DON’T GIVE UP! GO FOR IT! PRESS ON!

As I continue on this Training Journey for the Chicago Marathon on October 2019, I find myself hitting roadblocks & obstacles attempting to deter me from completing the Race!  Things like; physical tiredness, lack of motivation, pulled muscles, competing schedules, etc…. I think you get my drift…  Well this morning, I was provided with a Jewel in my Daily Devotional…

I hope that it inspires you as it did for me this morning…

You Version Devotional 30 Days to Greater Faith by Christine Caine (Day 29)
Experienced marathon runners will have visualized their whole race – the entire 26.3 miles from start to finish – before they set off. Long-distance runners come to grips with the race internally, in their hearts, before ever setting foot on the course. We ought to have that same overall sense of vision for our lives! Having a clear picture of what the race of life is all about, where we are heading, and what we are likely to encounter along the way will sustain us for the entire duration. Many people do not finish their race, simply because they lack long-term vision. Pause for a moment and reflect on this: Are there any areas in your life where you have given up because you’ve lost sight of the bigger picture? Maybe you have lost your vision for life emotionally, physically, relationally or financially. If so, DON’T GIVE UP! Identify the point where you gave up, renew your vision and GO FOR IT!
Scripture Reading:
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. Hebrews 12:1-3 NIV  https://bible.com/bible/111/heb.12.1-3.NIV

But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.  Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:7-14 NIV – https://bible.com/bible/111/php.3.7-14.NIV
